The Chinese Service Center of Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), an affiliation to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, announced yesterday the accreditation of all degree programmes offered by University of Portsmouth (UOP) delivered via Kaplan in Singapore (Degrees awarded through Kaplan Higher Education Academy from July 2011 and Kaplan Higher Education Institute from March 2016).

This is the fourth accreditation to be awarded in 2018, following closely with the same accreditation awarded to three of Kaplan’s other university partners – Murdoch University, Royal Holloway University of London and University College Dublin, earlier this year.

As the number of Chinese students pursuing overseas education increases, one of CSCSE’s primary roles is to provide the necessary professional services and support for them during their studies abroad and after they return. In its effort to offer more employment opportunities to returning graduates from foreign institutions, the CSCSE conducts extensive and thorough reviews of select transnational programmes and confers accreditations to worthy institutions. The recognition of the degrees from these accredited institutions will give Chinese graduates more options in public service, global and multi-national organisations, and the private sector.

Both UOP and Kaplan in Singapore are honoured to receive this accreditation, a testimony to the quality of programmes delivered through it.

Mr Chris Chang, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Global Engagement and Academic Partnerships at University of Portsmouth, says, We are delighted that the University of Portsmouth Degrees delivered through our partner, Kaplan in Singapore, are now formally recognised by the Chinese Government through CSCSE. This reaffirms the quality of the programmes we deliver both within and outside the UK with our partners, which is one of the reasons why the University has a Gold Award in the United Kingdom’s Teaching Excellence Framework and is ranked in the top 25 of the UK’s Guardian league table.”

Associate Professor Rhys Johnson, Chief Operating Officer and Provost of Kaplan, says, Congratulations indeed to our partner, University of Portsmouth, for receiving the CSCSE accreditation. It’s a timely recognition of the quality of degrees that UOP offers. We are immensely proud to be delivering the programmes here in Singapore, so that our students and alumni will benefit from this in their education and career pursuits. We will continue to work closely with UOP to provide quality teaching and industry-relevant programmes for our students.”

Currently offering Bachelor’s Degree programmes across the disciplines of Accounting, Banking & Finance and Information Technology, University of Portsmouth and Kaplan will continue to assess and introduce degree programmes that students have passion in and be industry-relevant in their career pursuits.
