Introduction to ACCA
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global body for professional accountants offers business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.
In order to become a qualified accountant and use the designatory letters “ACCA” after your name, you need to complete:
- 13 exams (nine of which are eligible for exemption)

Strategic Business Leader (SBL)
The current P1 and P3 exams will be withdrawn following the June 2018 exam session and an exciting new exam – Strategic Business Leader (SBL) – will be introduced from September 2018.
- Students who have completed BOTH the P1 and P3 exams will receive a converted pass in the SBL exam.
- Students who have passed only one of these exams, for example, either P1 or P3, before September 2018 will have to complete the new SBL exam.
Exam Aims
Through SBL, you will demonstrate the right blend of technical, ethical and professional skills through the evaluation, synthesis and presentation of responses within the context of an innovative case study. These are skills that employers around the world have said they want in professional accountants of the future. Supplementary

Entry Criteria
You need to fulfil the following criteria:
- You must be 18 years old and above
- Minimum 2 GCE ‘A’ Level and 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English and Mathematics or
- 3 LCCI Higher Level passes (individual passes or diploma) and 2 LCCI Intermediate Level passes in Book-keeping and English for Commerce with 2 GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English and Mathematics. All five subjects must be distinct (different) subjects or
- Polytechnic Diplomas and recognised University degree or
- Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification
- FIA Diploma in Accounting and Business

Supplementary Fee
A fee of $180 per intake is compulsory for all student pass holders. The supplementary fee includes access to MyKaplan Online resources supported by Kaplan UK, which will provide students with in-depth, additional revision and study material to aid in their ACCA journey.
Tuition Package Discount
New international students are required to sign up for the ACCA programme by package, which includes tuition and revision classes of 14 papers.
Continuing students must enrol a minimum of at least 3 papers each for tuition and their respective revision papers per intake.

Preparatory Course Commencement
You will have two levels to complete: Fundamentals and Professional, comprising 16 papers of which you are required to pass 14 papers unless exemptions are awarded. You can progress through the syllabus at your own pace.
Our courses commence in January (for June exams) and July (for December exams) of each year. If you wish to prepare for March and September exams, it is recommended for you to find out more about ACCA Live Online.

Revision Course Commencement
Our ACCA Revision courses cover key examinable areas, perfect your examination techniques and help you overcome your weaknesses, vastly increasing your chances of success. What’s more, your lecturers will be available before and after lectures, to iron out problem areas, if any.
Students will receive specially prepared revision notes and Pocket Notes for all papers (except LW, TX and ATX6).

BSc (Honours) in Applied Accounting
Students studying for their ACCA qualification now have the opportunity to obtain a degree from Oxford Brookes University, a recognised and highly respected UK university.
We are the first training centre in Singapore to offer the Oxford Brookes University Degree Programme. This programme enables ACCA students to obtain an Oxford Brookes degree, BSc (Honours) in Applied Accounting, upon the successful completion of the ACCA Fundamentals Level examinations.

To give you the opportunity to deliver a 15-minute presentation on your Report to your peers in accordance with the Oxford Brookes University’s requirements.
Research And Analysis Project Guide
In addition, students will receive an ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Approved Research and Analysis Project Guide from Kaplan Publishing, which includes a list of recommended topics for your report, plus extensive guidance notes on how to conduct your research.
Eligibility
To be awarded the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting you must:
- Opt in to do the BSc with ACCA UK before passing any of the 3 ACCA Fundamental papers FR, AA and FM
- Hold a recognised English language qualification certificate and transcript (if applicable), which must be submitted and approved by ACCA, before passing FR, AA and FM.
- Pass the three ACCA Fundamentals papers FR, AA & FM & pass other papers as required to successfully complete all nine Fundamentals Level papers
- Complete the ACCA Professional Ethics module by stipulated date from Oxford Brookes University, before submission of project.
- Complete and pass the Oxford Brookes University Research and Analysis Project
- The degree must be completed within 10 years of the earliest of the date of your first ACCA examination pass or the date of your first ACCA exemption being granted otherwise your eligibility will be withdrawn.
Please note that you must successfully complete the Fundamental level exam papers (AB, MA, FA, LW*, PM, TX*, FR, AA, FM) and complete the Professional Ethics module before submitting a Research and Analysis Project to Oxford Brookes University. You are required to pay a project submission fee of £191 (Period 30) to Oxford Brookes University with your project submission.
You will gain access to the Strategic Professional level via myACCA as soon as you become eligible to take SBL.
Admission
The minimum academic entry requirements for registering on the BSc degree are:
- 2 ‘A’ levels plus 3 GCE ‘O’ levels including Mathematics and English
- Oxford Brookes University recognises a number of other qualifications which satisfy the minimum English Language requirement, including a pass in Paper LW* Corporate & Business Law prior to attempting Papers FR, AA & FM.
Students who do not have an acceptable English Language qualification, will be permitted to register for the BSc degree only after they fulfil the Oxford Brookes’ English language requirements. Please refer to English Language Requirements for Oxford Brookes for more information.
Exemptions
As a registered student, you may be given exemptions from one or more of the 9 ACCA specified exam papers. Oxford Brookes University will give credits for exemptions by ACCA for any of Papers AB, MA, FA, LW*, PM, TX*. However, if you wish to achieve the BSc degree you must sit and pass all of the 3 ACCA subjects FR, AA & FM.
No exemptions can be given from the Professional Ethics Module or from the Oxford Brookes University Research and Analysis Project.
Assessment
The Research and Analysis Project (RAP) is the final component of the BSc degree and consists of two separate documents:
- 7,500 word Research Report (RR) and a
- 2,000 word Skills and Learning Statement (SLS)
You are required to give a presentation on the project to your project mentor. You have 3 attempts to pass the RAP. If you fail the RAP on three separate occasions, you will no longer be eligible to complete the BSc degree.
Please note that you can either submit the same project topic 3 times or 3 different RAPs.
Determination of Degree Class
The BSc degree will be based on both:
- The ACCA average mark determined from the exam marks in the Fundamental Skills Papers (LW*, PM, TX*, FR, AA, FM)
- The grade achieved for the Research and Analysis Project (RAP)
You will be given one of three Passes grades (A, B or C) or a Fail Grade (F) for the performance in the RP. You will be given either a ‘Satisfactory’ grade or an ‘Unsatisfactory’ grade for the performance in the SLS.

Fee Protection Scheme (FPS)
KLI has put in place requirements which include Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) regulated by the Committee for Private Education(CPE). For more information, please visit www.cpe.gov.sg
FPS is applicable to ALL students (regardless of nationality and the type of passes, i.e. dependent’s pass, student’s pass, work permit etc). It is mandatory for all students to apply for FPS and sign a student contract when they enrol for courses with any Private Education Institution (PEI) with EduTrust Certification.
For internatonal students wish to opt in for medical insurance, their Insurance Premium will be $46.05(inclusive of 7% GST). CPE has mandated that students who opt out must produce their medical insurance policy for verification by the PEI. Examinations – Important updates
- From 2016 ACCA exams will be held four times a year in all markets, Singapore inclusive
- Candidates will still be allowed to attempt a maximum of 8 distinct exams over the course of the exam year with a maximum of 4 exam sittings per exam window.
Progression Rules for Professional Level Exams
- From September 2015 students will be able to take their Professional level exams in any order
- Students who take the AAA* exam should continue to take the APM exam in advance of, or at the same time as, studying for the AAA* exam
- Progression rules for the Fundamental and Skills papers remain unchanged
Experience
In addition to completing the exams, you will need to gain 3 years’ relevant and supervised practical work experience. These 3 years can be obtained before, during or after your exams.

Exemptions
ACCA offers exemptions to students that have studied relevant qualifications prior to starting their ACCA studies. This means that you may not have to take all of the exams in the ACCA Qualification or Foundations in Accountancy awards and you can start your studies at the right level.

Student Support
There will be an activity organised for students every month. Activities include seminars, corporate visits, charity events, etc. Details of each activity will be released to students via email.
