Introduction to FIA
Foundations in Accountancy is a suite of awards that employers can use to provide employees with a grounding in accounting and finance.
The qualifications can be used to develop recruits from secondary schools or to encourage those already working in accounts support roles to obtain formal recognition of their abilities. There are no formal entry requirements.
As Foundations in Accountancy consists of a suite of awards you can pick the qualification which is best matched to the job role and educational achievements of individual employees:
- Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting

Entry Requirements
Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting/ Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting
- You should be at least 16 years old with no formal academic and accounting knowledge.
- You should have IELTS 4.5 or pass in English language at GCE ‘N’ levels or its equivalent.
- There is no requirement to complete the Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting or the Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting prior to completing the Diploma in Accounting and Business, although you are strongly recommended to do so.
Diploma in Accounting and Business
- You should be at least 16 years old with preferably GCE ‘O’ levels or equivalent and possess IELTS 5.5 or a pass in GCE ‘O’ levels English or its equivalent.
- Students who would have normally joined under MSER will now have the option of taking FAB, FMA and FFA under Foundations in Accountancy instead.
- When students have completed FAB, FMA and FFA, they will claim exemption from the AB, MA and FA of the ACCA Qualification and will start at the Skills module exams.

Duration of CBE is two hours. Registered students will receive the confirmation letter in class on within one to two weeks before exam date. Please note that the confirmed exam time slot will be assigned by Kaplan Learning Institute (KLI).

Supplementary Fee
A fee of $180 per intake is compulsory for all student pass holders. The supplementary fee include access to MyKaplan Online resources supported by Kaplan UK, which will provide students with indepth, additional revision and study material to aid in their ACCA journey.
Tution Package Discount
New international students are required to sign up for the FIA programme by package, which includes tuition and revision classes of 7 papers. Continuing students must enrol a minimum of at least 3 papers each for tuition and their respective revision papers per intake.

Preparatory Course Commencement
You will have three levels to complete(shown below), comprising of 7 papers unless exemptions are awarded. You can progress through the syllabus at your own pace
- Introductory certificate in financial and management accounting (FA1 and MA1)
- Intermediate Certificate in financial and management accounting (FA2 and MA2)
- The Diploma in Accounting and Business (FAB, FMA and FFA)

Revision Course Commencement
Our FIA Revision courses cover key examinable areas, perfect your examination techniques and help you overcome your weaknesses, vastly increasing your chances of success. What’s more, your lecturers will be available before and after lectures, to iron out problem areas, if any.

Student Pass
International students who enrol for Kaplan Financial course packages will enjoy “Green Lane” processing of student pass applications. “Green Lane” means reduced processing time, waiver of security deposit, waiver of interview for PRC students and the student pass will be valid for the full duration of the course. Fee Protection Scheme (FPS)
Kaplan Financial has put in place requirements which include Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) under the EduTrust Certification Scheme regulated by the Council of Private Education. For more information, please visit www.cpe.gov.sg FPS is applicable to ALL students (regardless of nationality and the type of passes, i.e. dependent’s pass, student’s pass, work permit etc). It is mandatory for all students to apply for FPS and sign a student contract when they enrol for courses with any Private Education Institution (PEI) with EduTrust Certification. Insurance premium is computed at 0.45% of the fee payable plus 7% GST capped at minimum insurance premium of S$8.56. The FPS premium is based on a fixed rate of the course fees and payable upon enrolment per intake.
Medical Insurance Coverage
Kaplan Singapore has in place a group medical insurance scheme for all its STP students and this medical insurance scheme will have a minimum coverage as follows :
- an annual coverage limit of S$30,000 medical costs coverage per student
- at least B1 ward in government and restructured hospitals
- 24 hours coverage in Singapore and overseas (if student is involved in school-related activities)

Experience
In addition to completing the exams, you will need to gain 3 years’ relevant and supervised practical work experience. These 3 years can be obtained before, during or after your exams.

Exemptions
ACCA offers exemptions to students that have studied relevant qualifications prior to starting their FIA studies. This means that you may not have to take all of the exams in the ACCA Qualification or Foundations in Accountancy awards and you can start your studies at the right level.

What is SkillsFuture Credit?
SkillsFuture Credit aims to encourage individuals to take ownership of their skills development and lifelong learning. All Singaporeans aged 25 and above would have received an opening credit of S$500 from January 2016. Your credit will not expire and the government will provide periodic top-ups, so you may accumulate your credit.
What can I use it for?
Your SkillsFuture Credit can be used on top of existing government course subsidies to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses.
