For International Students – Kaplan Higher Education Academy
All applications must be submitted to Kaplan Higher Education Academy at least 6 weeks before the start of each intake.
Documents required for programme application:
- Duly completed application form (click to download application form)
- Certified/Notarised copy of highest qualification certificates and transcripts
- 2 passport-sized photographs (full colour)
- Programme application fee
- Birth certificate
- Photocopy of passport
- Bank statement (if applicable)
- Employment letter certifying applicant’s occupation and salary (if applicable)

- Personal statement/statement of intention (if applicable)

How to Apply
Application and Selection
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore requires all foreign students to hold a valid Student’s Pass for their full-time study in Singapore. The Student’s Pass is applied by Kaplan Higher Education Academy on behalf of the international student. As considerable care is taken by the University and Kaplan Higher Education Academy in the selection of students, they usually take about 3 weeks to process each application. Therefore, it is advisable for individuals to apply for admission at least 6 weeks before the start of each intake.
A. Student’s Pass Application
- All Student’s Pass holders have to ensure that their purpose of holding a valid Student’s Pass in Singapore is educational.
- Student’s Pass holders are required to notify ICA of any change in passport particulars or place of residence within 14 days of the change through this link.
- All Student’s Pass holders are to ensure that their attendance has to be 90% and above.
- Student’s Pass holders are only eligible to study in Singapore with a valid Student’s Pass.
- All Student’s Pass holders are only allowed to attend the programme at Kaplan Higher Education Academy as stated in the Student’s Pass application.
- Student’s Pass holders cannot commit criminal offences.
Should the Student’s Pass holder breach the undertaking, the Controller of Immigration will cancel the Student’s Pass and he/she will have to leave Singapore within 24 hours. If the Student’s Pass holder does not meet the attendance percentage requirements, Kaplan in Singapore will have to report this to ICA immediately.
Documents to be submitted for Student’s Pass Application:
- Completed Student’s Pass Application Forms: Form 16 (only applies to upgrader/renewal/local transfer applications)
- Passport and/or Birth Certificate
- Old Student’s Pass or Embarkation Form
- Passport-sized photograph of student (full colour on WHITE background)
The Student’s Pass is applied by Kaplan in Singapore on behalf of the student. The approval process starting from submission of full documents and information to issuance of the In-Principle Approval of the Student’s Pass is expected to take between 3-4 weeks.
B. The Student’s Pass Status Tracking and Communication
Students need to bring along the following documents on Reporting Day for the completion of the Student’s Pass Application:
- Passport
- Address in Singapore
- Old Student’s Pass or Embarkation Form (if applicable)
- Arrival Card (Immigration White Card) (if applicable)
C. Students’ Pass Information
The student shall comply with the provisions of the Immigration Act and any regulations made hereunder or any statutory modification or re-enactment thereof for the time being in force in Singapore.
- The student shall not be involved in any criminal offences in Singapore. The student shall not remain in Singapore after the expiry of the Student’s Pass. The student shall surrender the Student’s Pass for cancellation within 7 days of the date of cessation or termination
of studies. - The student shall not indulge in any activities that are inconsistent with the purpose for which the Student’s Pass has been issued.
- It is illegal to chew gum, eat and drink in controlled areas, jaywalk and smoke in restricted areas in Singapore. Failure to comply with the rules will usually attract a legal penalty such as a fine.
- (Form 14) The student must understand that if the Controller of Immigration is satisfied that the student or any member of his/her family has breached this undertaking or become an undesirable or prohibited immigrant, the school will cancel his/her immigration pass and the passes of the members of his/her family, and the student and his/her family may be required to leave Singapore within 24 hours of the cancellation*.
*Visit Pass/Extension of Stay/Student’s Pass (Form 14) and Student’s Pass Application (Form 16) provided by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). The ICA website should be referred to for complete information.
Student’s Pass Application and Processes for Renewal
Student is required to submit the Student’s Pass renewal application form to the Programme Manager (PM) 1 month before expiry of the Student’s Pass. PM will inform the student once the Student’s Pass is approved. Student will upload the Terms and Conditions of Student’s Pass Form and Medical Examination Report (where applicable) via ICA portal. After the issuance fees are processed, student will be informed to bring along the IPA letter, passport, passport-sized photograph and old Student’s Pass or Embarkation Form to complete their Student’s Pass formalities at ICA after logging into SOLAR+ to make an e-appointment. Student will submit a copy of the new Student’s Pass to PM once they have collected it.
